What makes Kahn HealthCare Consulting Unique?
At Kahn HealthCare Consulting we understand how important peace of mind can be when dealing with an aging loved one. We know every person is traveling a different journey, has special needs and one size does not fit all. Since 2005, we have been customizing preventive care plans, putting the safety nets in place, and making sure you and your loved ones have the necessary tools and resources to make important care and life decisions.
Knowing who to turn to for guidance navigating the healthcare system, home care and aging services can make all the difference between good care and bad outcomes.
Melissa Kahn started out in Medical Art Therapy in New York working at Bellevue Medical Center and Beth Israel Medical Center before moving to Chicago. She has developed and championed a variety of healthcare and aging initiatives for organizations such as: Horizon Hospice and Saint Joseph Hospital, Formations in Healthcare, The Council for Jewish Elderly, National Association of Social Workers, IL Chapter, CAEL/US Department of Labor, The Metropolitan Chicago Health Care Council, CVS pharmacy, and for Heartland Alliance, a global human rights organization.
Melissa has also served on the advisory boards for Northwestern - Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer's Disease Center, Chicago and LA Caregiver Magazine and committee member for the Alzheimer's Association Family Caregiver Conference.
The Personal Health Care Passport TM
In 2006, Melissa wrote and published the The Personal Health Care Passport TM, a practical book to empower older adults to chronicle important health/medical information and manage care care across the continuum.
SPACE AND GRACE tm
In 2020, Kahn HealthCare Consulting created a 90 minute mindfulness session for paid caregivers and their organizations to address the challenges and stressors faced during the pandemic. What later developed was an expansion of SPACE AND GRACE and a partnership with HealChicago.org. Today, SPACE AND GRACE is a free 6-week virtual caregiver support program for family caregivers 50 years and older who have feel stressed, isolated and come from undeserved communities. The RRF Foundation for Aging has generously funded SPACE AND GRACE so we can offer the this support program for free and help break down the some of the barriers to healing associated with trauma caused by stress, health, economic, and racial disparities by building pathways for caregivers of all backgrounds to connect and feel fully seen and heard.
